Have you considered buying a new PC? I mean, if you have the cash, after all this frustration, perhaps getting a new PC will ultimately solve your problem (hopefully)

If not, check your event log and see if you can find anything from there... As for hardwares, you need to isolate various factors to nail down the final problem.

    1) when the comp froze, was the weather hot (like above 90F) or? If so, maybe your system is running too hot

    2) I am not sure if you bought new HDD. But try to get a new one and see if that would work out.

    3) M/B can be just bad? What about your RAM?

    4) Do you have software that conflicts each other? Such as two different AntiVirus system in one machine?

If you think it is very likely a problem from video card, dont put ATi and NVDIA together then. Try to make your comp as simple as it is. One HDD, one video card, one disc drive, etc.

At last but not least, is your computer networked or? Any firewall? Any of your other computers that may be infected by adware/virus such as Sasser on your network that you are not aware of?

    New Intel M/B: $105
    New 160 GB HDD: $120
New whole advance gaming system: $900
Ease from your frustration => priceless
