Constant BCcode error

So a friend of mine constantly gets this BCcode error anytime he's playing any sort of game, or media file.

SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

He had originally thought it was due to his outdated graphics card but to me it seems more to be a RAM problem. He installed a new graphics card and it didn't help so i was hoping someone could actually pinpoint what the error code means.

He is running on Windows XP, and gets the blue screen after turning on the function to see error codes.

Thanks for the reply but this is a persistent problem that well persists through reformats etc.

i don't think it has anything to do with anti-virus or registry issues.

I suggest doing the following...

1. Download Driver Sweeper free version to your desktop screen and install.

2. Download the latest diver(s) for your video card but don't install them.

3. Uninstall your video card drivers and reboot your PC into Safe Mode. Run Driver Sweeper but ONLY for the video card drivers. I had someone use it on their chipset drivers! If it doesn't find any video card drivers that is quite okay; just leave all other drivers alone.

4. Reboot and install new video card drivers.
