have you tried reinstalling flash player?

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I have tried all of that to no avail. I'm a little stuck, it's not a great inconvenience to me, but I'm used to controlling the volume via my keyboard and I do tend to view youtube quite a lot. I can't even pinpoint what I may have done.

Yup, I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. No difference. In fact, now it doesn't even appear in Add/Remove programs when I looked for it to try it again.

If I were you I`d completely uninstall and reinstall your sound drivers.

I also recommend you download and install the K-lite codec pack.

    Then, the flash player.

See if that helps at all.

What sound card do you have and when did this problem first start?

    Regards Howard :)

I think I already have the K-Lite codec pack. It came with the media player classic bundle I believe.

Let's see...I first noticed on Wednesday, and since I use the volume daily it would have started then.

My sound card is integrated to my mother board (not the greatest quality I know)...it's called RealTek AC'97 I think.

    Thanks again.

Have you tried a system restore to before your problem occurred? That might help.

    Regards Howard :)

I'll try uninstalling and re-installing my sound driver first, if that doesn't work, I'll go system restore. Would it be easier to do a system restore first?

I`d go with the system restore first option.

    Regards Howard :)

I've tried restoring to 3 different points but upon restart it tells me that it cannot be restored to that point whichever I choose.

    I'll try my sound driver.

No, no luck there either, what a bizarre issue :)

If anyone can think of anything, please advise.

    Thanks anyway :)

    IE not working!

    Hi everyone,

My IE is not working despite Firefox working fine. It's been a few months now and it doesn't particularly trouble me as I use Firefox as my default anyway, however if there's an infection on my system I'd like to rid myself of it. I've already tried to uninstall and re-install it to no avail. I've done all the preliminary cleaning required correctly I hope, it took me about 6 hours, lol.

The Panda rootkit said nothing was found.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't see a whole lot in your logs though I am about to fall asleep.

Can you be more specific than "My IE is not working"

And while you are here your Java needs updated.

    Update your Java Runtime Environment
    • First try going to Start -> Control Panel -> double click Java
    • Select the Update Tab at the top of the Java console
    • Click the Check for Updates button at the bottom
    • If it finds the newer version (Java 6 Update 5) Follow the on screen instructions
    • After it installs the newest version Go back to Control Panel -> Add/remove programs
    • Uninstall any older versions of Java

    Thanks, I'm updating Java now.

In re: to being more specific, when I open IE it says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" followed by:

    Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

    What you can try:
    Diagnose Connection Problems

    More information

I've tried diagnosing the problem but there's no result, it just says I'm not connected.

    Any other suggestions from anyone?
