    ZALMAN CNPS9900LED 120mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Retail

I currently have 9970 nt and its good ;) This new version should be much better.

Thanks mancream. But as I've already mentioned earlier the Zalman is not available where I stay. So the Vendetta II seems to best fit my budget (and maybe my case too)? ;)

Have you tried any overclocking with the stock cooler yet? My 710 runs very cool, maxing out at 47 Celsius, even with Intel Burnt Test, and a 30 degree ambient temperature. Of course this is at stock voltage, and I'm not sure how much increasing voltages would affect the temperatures.

Increasing voltages significantly increases temps. So it will run significantly hotter with a higher Vcore.

Hi Technochicken. I've never OC'd before. This will be my first attempt. My ambient is also about 30. However, it's been recommended that I go for an aftermarket HSF before attempting an overclock.

I'll get the Vendetta 2 tomorrow. From what I have managed to find out, it should just about fit my case (CM 690) and I'll have to install the RAM on my first DIMM slot before I fit in the Vendetta.

    Hope all goes well. :)

unless you have a very high ambient temp Rit, i think it will do fine with the Vendatta, here check this out. The X3 720 seems to run cool in my experience, and i have seen the same in other benchmarks. :)

    note the Vcore

Perhaps it's only a popular myth red, by Calcutta is supposed to be really hot. Anybody?

Update; the Washington Post claims it averages 67 degrees F in January, and gets hotter, (and wetter), from there.

Cap, Rit told me earlier that its hotter there than it is here.
LOL, i just looked it up on weather.com, 90's for as long as the eye can see

Dude, anywhere is hotter than Minnesota! Except the land of the MILF Queen, Sarah Palin.

Time to fire up Ritwik, be careful Rit,it's not so much the ambient temps as much as it is the flies getting caught in the cooling fins. :haha:

:haha: I have read that MN has the biggest temperature swing in the USA, from -60F to 105F, it gets tropical here in the summer......much like where you are.

Seriously? That's actually hotter than here, but in Philly, it's not so much the heat as the humidity, and lest I forget, the stench and the murder rate.

yeah, this is a strange place...now if you will excuse me i have to go chew on my wife's boots to soften them up so she can be on her way.

Sounds like fun! I should have tried to get my wife's boots in the divorce, just a quick sniff would take me back to the good old days. :haha: :stickout:

"Footnote"; This would have been the place for a "pacman" smiley!

    Her Maiden Name was "Woodworthy"...........

It's 5.30 AM in Calcutta, so I guess that's why RitWik didn't take the bait on my "flies in the cooling fins" remark". Ah well, there's always tomorrow!

Oh, before I forget; http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic133259-2.html as per your referral!

Hello Captain! I take it that you're passionate about angling??? Fly-fishing is it? :p

However, I must admit, I'm absolutely lost on where this thread is going!!! :D

And the ambient temps will be around 30-35C throughout for now. It's the monsoon here, so humidity is high too.

@ Captain : "Qui es futurus indignans, Ego vos salutant". I don't know any French. Would like to know what it means though. :)

    Thanks.

    Oh..., Look Who's Up....!

Well technically, since you've made up your mind which CPU cooler you're going to buy, it's concluded. But, since we're having so much fun, it's sort of in a holding pattern. Not to worry though, red and I will probably find someone else to gang up on pretty soon. This of course unless you'd like us to continue wearing out our welcome here.
I enjoy stating the obvious, simply because you're never wrong when you do. With that thought in mind, I say to you, "well duh, it's always humid when it's raining".
