A while back, I purchased a used Dell Dimension L500c minitower for my kid to use. It has a 500 mhz celeron socket cpu (socket 370?). She has moved on to her own laptop now, so I'm using it for 'by the bed' use. It does fine for poking around the web, and it's nice & compact. My question: does anyone here know which, if any, cpu upgrades will plug & play in this machine? Getting info from Dell seems impossible. Thanks, -Jim

You should figure out what motherboard this machine uses - it could be a Dell proprietary thing, but it might as well be a generic mobo. If it's the latter, then all you have to do is to go to the mobo maker's website.

motherboard information will be printed on the circuit board itself. If you registered for a warranty, the original information should be located somewhere on the dell customer service website. From there you may be able to find out if the cpu is upgradeable. For such an old system however, it probably isn't worth it.
