Cracking PC games is getting too difficult, say pirates

No demos for games.. no game cracks to demo them.. increasing price for games and an ever increasing focus on pre-order and season pass nonsense.. always-online requirements.. severely intrusive DRM that goes as far as to affect the performance and stability of the game.. more and more unfinished games being sold at high prices (early access)..

If developers keep going the way they are, more and more people will stop buying games entirely; or at the very least, for full price.

I've only bought one $60 game in my life after the price increased, and I got screwed.

I've bought numerous games that had no demos and got screwed.

I moved to pirating almost all games I played because of my experiences over the years. If a game sucked, I didn't buy it. If a game was great, I bought it on Steam or GoG. It was the only way to know for sure if a game was acceptable or not. (FWIW, my Steam account has 1,250 games on it and is valued at $12,000)

Now with Steam refunds (and Origin and GoG), there's a lot less risk to blindly buying a game.. but things still aren't ideal (especially in Steam's case, as the 2 hour window cannot cover long form games).

The industry has been in a pretty poor state the last few years. I honestly can't even guess how things will end up in a decade.

The problem is that you sometimes want to try out a game (not only 30 minutes as Steam refund system allows, you need more time to test configurations). Last time I wanted to try Batman: Arkham Knight and I couldn't do it at all because it wasn't cracked yet (not the updated versions at least). I was going to buy it anyway (already did), but it was annoying.

Steam refunds allows you to play 2 hours.
