Crahes upon trying to shutdown or using various programs

For example, if I open up and try to use Microsoft Word or ImgBurn, they freeze and don't let me close them, even using Cntl+Alt+Del I can't terminate the process

and upon trying to shutdown the computer completely crashes, I can move the cursor around but that's it.

I had avast do a scan of the system and it found 2 threats, but upon removing them Im still having these problems.

It could be you are still infected. We have seen many times that even after a security software removes infections, infections remain.

I strongly suggest you go to our Virus and Malware removal forum and follow the instructions in the Updated 8 Step sticky. Post your logs on that forum when you are done.
