  1. sillygirl Newcomer, in training

    I am attempting to transfer information from a laptop to a desktop - both are running Windows XP. I have a crossover cable, however after plugging them in I'm not quite sure how to make one computer see the other.

    Any help or suggestions?

    Make sure they are both set up in the same Workgroup. If they are you should be able to see them in My Network Places. Then you just need to share what directories that you want to copy.

    Just in case you don't know where to start...Here's a simple step.

    Start--->All Programs--->Accessories--->Communications--->Network Setup Wizard

    After that follow the screens and you're on your way to setting up a workgroup.
