  1. I have a KDS Xtreme Flat , everest reports 17inches, and pcwizard 16inches , however i was just told that 1280x1024 4:3 is not a real resolution, but 1280x1024 5:3 is, or using crt i shouldn't use 1280x1024, rather i should use 1600x1200, however i don't see a option for 1600x1200?

LCD's will always have an "optimal" or "native" resolution which will display the best results. If this is non-standard setting sometimes your video card may not support it. Your KDS CRT monitor will display 1280x1024 MAX resolution which is typical for 17" CRT's
