Get used to it as we continue to hear more about it. Some of the bigger monitor manufacturers have already started a process in which they will eventually move all their capacity to TFT-LCD screens that keep dropping in price and will take over the huge market CRT monitors have kept for so long. If you can recall, Sony announced a couple of months ago they would stop producing smaller CRT monitors (< 20") in favor of flat LCDs.

But year on year, there was a slump of 23 per cent in shipments, with the total number of CRT monitors shipping in 2002 falling to 24,254,054 – compared to around 33 million in the previous year. In value, the CRT market was down by 12.2% in the fourth calendar quarter of 2002, worth $1 billion.
