  1. Cevat Yerli, CEO & President of Crytek, has penned an open letter titled "Be Free... Be Creative... Be the Developer" in which he outlines his company's plans for the modding community. This summer, Crytek will release the Crysis 2 Editor for those who want to create content for Crysis 2. In August 2011, Crytek will launch its free CryEngine SDK for all of those who want to create new content with CryEngine 3.

If, and only if, Crysis 2 wasn't such a hacker nest, watered down, call-of-duty-copycat game, then maybe I would be excited.

I just hope DICE does the same for Battlefield 3...

What? You want them to make Battlefield 3 into a hacker nest, watered down, call-of-duty-copycat game?

Only the editor is bounded to Crysis 2. CryEngine SDK basically allows you to create anything.

Btw, BF3 Editor won't come, as mentioned in an interview. DICE thinks it's too complicated for outside developers and it's hard to wrap up the toolkit. Of course, I view that comment as an excuse. DICE is not even selling FrostBite Engine and there is no reason to release an engine editor to public.

Okay, but WHEN is the DX11 patch coming? Too little too late crytek, the market has lost interest on this console blunder.

Can't tell if you're trolling... I was talking about releasing the editor, not releasing an equally crappy game.

I'm not talking about the SDK. The editor is what I believe is uninteresting at the moment.

And the general manager at DICE said he doesn't not know yet whether editing tools will be released because, right now, the team is focused on creating their best game yet. He said, putting team resources into editing tools would slow down the game's progress due to the time it takes simplifying said tools for consumer use. He did say, however, that it might be something that could arrive post-launch, probably several months after... Which is why I meant that I hope that it takes them about the same time it took Crytek to release them (3-5 months).

I don't care if they don't launch with the game; having DICE support the modding community (and consequently the game itself) is the most important thing.

I heard Crytek will be releasing another patch soon. However, still no news on the ETA of that Direct X 11 patch.

Me too. I've enjoyed every minute of it, and am blown away by all of the little enhancements that Crytek put in CryEngine 3. I'm afraid that some of my PC friends are a little emotionally unstable and refuse to evaluate Crysis 2 objectively.

Is it a good game? sure! Is it worthy of the Crysis name or meet the expectations we have of crytek? hell no. The game even had a "press the start button" before it was patched. The controls are sloppy and the graphics really aren't that good. The Crysis 2 story contradicts the first in many aspects. They didn't deliver on the graphics side and on top of that, they didn't even throw in DX11 support at the start. I think the only reason they are putting an editor in Crysis 2 is because of the backlash they got from the PC community. It was PC gamers going around telling the console gamers to get it. Crytek completely screwed the PC gamer and started charging the console tax. $60 for a damn game, and don't tell me it's because the price of everything is going up. If PC games are $60 now why the heck aren't console games $70? It was the PC community that had Cryteks back on this and endorsed it. They ended up bending us over backwards.

Look, it's just not crysis. They used some names over again, they have a nano suit and you fight aliens. That's pretty much the only thing it has in common with the first. I would probably still play it even if it wasn't named crysis 2. I just refuse to accept that this is what Crytek wants to call Crysis 2 and then they have the audacity to charge us an extra $10
