Cucusoft problems

Ive started to use cucusoft v7.07 to convert rm into dvd and vcd as i heard this was a good piece of software to start doing this, Once I start cucusoft up it comes with a list of codecs on my system and it shows that all of them are present. However when I go to convert a file it says could not open media file, you may need to install some video codec to open your file. Then it gives me the adress to go and get this codec. But I dont understand this as I've already got all the codecs.
any help would be good
p.s. I had the silimar type of problem with winavi

I've tried WinAVI.It really can't convert files if you don't install the codec for the file.And you need install the codec under the directory of winavi.(I think and i do)
