As you know the orthodox techniques of password protecting data is not much effective any more. Can anyone tell me how safely protect my files?

Don't use the Microsoft Encryption Filesystem! The encryption key contains your logon password and if you change your password, you can't ever decrypt the data.

My laptop has business data on it and there are specific files that need to be protected. Look for 3rd party PGP software to allow manual encrypt/decrypt.
I use FileAssurity OpenPGP.
