Decrypting a Word 97 file

I have some files encrypted using some QeditAdvance software in 1998. Now I am trying to access them back but cannot (tried word 07 and 2010 already). Found out the company is no longer existing or something. But how can I convert or access these word document files again. I ve tried a lot, Im willing to hear your opinions. Heeeellllp. I need it to now put into a Book Im writing.

You could try a few different ideas out.
1) Try opening the saved files as .txt in Windows Notepad, or;
2) You can download a version of Qedit (TSE pro) from this site;
http://www.semware.com/html/tsewindownload.php
OR http://download.cnet.com/TSE-Pro/3000-2352_4-10065325.html?part=dl-TSEPro&subj=uo&tag=button

then load your old files into it. If they open correctly, then try to save them again a useable format such as .txt.
If that is not possible, but you can read your old files on screen, then save the screen as an image, and use an optical character recognition (OCR) program to convert the image back into an editible file, and save again in .txt or some other format that you can load into your Word processor.
3) Open Office might open your old files.
4) Corel's WordPerfect most likely would open your old files.

Sorry ayodipo, I'm closing this thread. Although nobody in our community would be opposed to helping you in person, there's simply no way to verify that you're the rightful owner of the files over the Internet. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
