    Hello all, can anyone suggest a good defrag program?

    I need a better one than windows, it's leaving so much untouched.. thanks :)

    Thank you for that, I will go check it out :)

    ty ty ty ......now all I need is an '***** proof' reg cleaner and I am good to go :)

    Personally, I don`t really recommend the use of reg cleaners. There`s always potential for something to go wrong.

    However, if you insist, then the Ccleaner programme is about as good as anything.

    Just bear in mind, you should make a backup of your registry when asked if you would like to do so, before running any reg fixes.

    Regards Howard :)

    Another vote for Diskeeper.
    Diskeeper lite is a good freeware defragger.
    I am presently demoing the latest payware version (Diskeeper 2k7 Pro) and it's fantastic. Intelligent automatic defrag, low resource usage, and rock solid stability. I can barely notice it's running in the background, but it defrags automatically when it finds idle resources without affecting my other applications. thumbs up.

    Thank you, having good results with Diskeeper .....much better than the windows version. :)

    I will take your advice and leave the registry alone... just in case :)

    If you're willing to pay then I recommend Perfect Disk.

    google and download PagDefrag;
    you ask for it to run at boot time (manually or every boot)
    and it will defrag the Registry files AND the pagefile.sys itself.

    [be sure to run chkdsk /f first!]

    these are two areas usually overlooked but which are oh so important!

    DK revived my near dead system back into action, atleast the drive is now performing without problems, touchwood! So my vote too for Diskeeper.
