I have no Master Password generator, only rustam has that, and he has not been around lately This website has the info and software for an alternate method of clearing both BIOS Password types.

You need to remove all power from the laptop, locate your CMOS battery and disconnect it (or remove it if it is a coin style battery) for 30 minutes. That will not remove the Admin /Configure Setup Password, but it will reset BIOS Defaults of Boot Order 1) Diskette 2)HDD 3)CD Drive and reenable disabled drives. That default boot order will be locked still by the password, but by then removing the HDD from the laptop, it will allow a boot from the CD Drive with the CDR version of the DST file from this Website and erase the eeprom, then reset only the Service Tag

The Case of the Deadman's Laptop (for Rustam_ or ? dell d610 bios password)

I recently became the proud owner of a Dell Latitude D610 PP11L. Here is how:

A male friend of my sister's died a few months ago and his brother got his new laptop. I heard about it because my sister asked me to help him with the password to the laptop. Until a few days ago when I first saw the laptop I thought she was referring to just the Windows password. I had quoted a price to restore the laptop. He (recall, the brother of my sister's friend) never got back to me and I assumed he just didn't want to pay anything, or fixed it himself. I also later learned that in the meantime he was shopping it around to his friends who said they would try; they all failed. My sister informed me that he was so disgusted he wanted to sell it cheap. When we met and I saw it boot up, I was somewhat surprised to find the so-called "gray screen" as Paragon calls it. Never seen this before. So I purchased the laptop with the confidence that I will get through it.

Shortly after starting my research I came across all the posts here regarding this type of password and the best solution is held by Rustam_. So here I am.

    Service Tag: 6D5ZC91-595B

    And the password is......

    Thanks,
    Dean

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

I have merged your thread into this main Dell bios password thread.

Unfortunately rustam_ hasn`t been around for quite sometime due to ill health. He has told me he won`t be around for the forseeable future.

Thanks. I had read that in an earlier post, but I saw him online (he must have accepted my invite) this morning in IM and thought I would give it a shot

    Hello Paragon33,

I read your web site but I got confused between methods. Ideally, I would like to use Rustam_ method. But if that is impossible when would one use the paperclip method versus the DST method?

I have a lat d610 and do not want to cut open the motherboard sheath. Does the DST method work here? I would like to do it booting from cd or usb drive and have disconnected coin-battery for about an hour as instructed.

    Thanks,
    Dean

If you are getting a grey/white csreen asking for a Password, that is a Primary BIOS Password- no matter what it says on the screen-and must be cleared either by rustam and his Password Generator or by the "paperclip" method. If the Bios is accessible, but locked by an Admin/Cofigure Setup Password, then you use the DST software to clear that type
