Dell Inspirion 1100 Hardrive issues

I'm currently trying to re-install windows onto an old tablet by putting it's hard drive into an older Dell laptop, and although they are supposed to be the same size, the dell is slightly thinner and therefore the older hard drive won't fit into the bay.
I don't think I can or should force it and I would gladly accept any advise.
Thanks,
Shannon

Why are you trying to put the hard drive in an old Dell? Does the tablet have a cd rom drive? I wouldn't force it you might cause more problems. If you needed to you could get an adapter that would make the 2 1/2 inch drive hook into the 3 1/2 drive ide cable (in a desktop computer) so you could format it and install Windows....

My advice is simple, DONT DO IT.

A general rule for computers (and most other things) is that if you have to force it in, it's not right. Perhaps buy a new harddrive.

Good luck anyways,
