Dell Inspiron 1000 won't boot

My Dell Inspiron 1000 won't boot. When i press the power button, the lights above the keyboard flash for a second, then with a click it stops. It does not even start the boot sequence. I tried a UBCD but it never gets that far. Can anybody help me diagnose the problem?

Thank you

I had the same problem when my graphics card died and then it has also happened to me when a HDD died and got it working by disconnecting the power cable to faulty component. So you could try that, one component at the time, or then remove (for ex.) one ram card and try, then an other and try again...and so on :)

Re: Dell Inspiron

Thanks for the reply. I have tried taking out the ram and the hard drive and reseating them but now the lights don't even come on. Would the motherboard be boogied?
