Dell Inspiron 6400 auto power-up

  1. oldskooltek Newcomer, in training

    I have a Dell inspiron 6400 with a bad battery. When I plug in the ac adapter the unit powers up. When I hold the power button down to shutdown, it does.. then it comes back on again by itself. So I think....let it boot to Win XP and shutdown from the desktop. START....turn off computer...turn off...10 seconds later...post beep and power on! What is going on? Got any ideas?

    Faulty batteries are very common in Laptops, and have been seen to do many strange things
    Consider replacing the battery
