Last week the poor Dell Inspiron 8100 seems to have died. It is used to program industrial PLC's so it is never on the net, hence almost no chance for viruses. When powered on, it takes over 45 minutes to POST and start Windows XP home. Response to pad or keyboard commands is delayed by 30-90 seconds.
It does the same thing if the back-up hard drive is installed and to original is removed. Is the problem likely to be the Processor? Motherboard? or Memory
