Dell Inspiron is freezing after 2 - 10 minutes

I've read through a few previous posts but haven't found one that exactly describes what's happening to my laptop.

Dell Inspiron 1525 running Vista

In normal mode the computer freezes up - sometimes after a couple minutes - sometimes as much as 10 minutes.

The mouse still moves around but the wait icon continues to run. Start menu can sometimes be brought up but if I push restart or shut down nothing happens. Ctrl, Alt, Delete does not work. I have to turn it off and on by holding down the on/off button.

Power management is set to high performance and changing sleep/hibernate settings doesn't make a difference. I have restored the computer to a time before this started happening but again, no difference.

The computer only seems to work in Safe mode with Networking.

Have run chkdsk and done numerous deep scans with Advanced System Care.

Any ideas? I'm no computer whiz so simple instructions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Please take a look at your system's Event Viewer Logs, you can find event viewer in Control Panel >- Admin Tools -> Event Viewer. Especially look for Red/yellow tagged events in Application / system logs. It may provide you with some clues.
