Dell Inspiron m5030

Allllllright, so I sat down and turned on my laptop and the screen was black and there was an error pop up that said something about the log in screen. I so very intelligently hit the nice little red X in the corner and then nothing happened. The computer screen stayed black. I turned it off and back on twice before finally removing the battery for a short time and replacing it. (I was under the impression that this would magically help somehow.) but it goes through the motions of starting up and when it gets to the part where I log in, it stays on but black screens.

I have a dell Inspiron m5030 and I'm still using windows 7... If that helps.

Uhhhhh, it turned on...? And worked like normal. I kept pressing F12 for reboot options but they never came up then my login finally came up. But what do I do if this problem persists?

Looks like it went through a recovery cycle.

  • F2 is the BIOS access
  • F8 is the Safe Mode
  • F12 is the boot device selection

next time, use F8 :- as soon as the black screen with a flashing '_' in upper left, tap F8 once per second until
you get a VGA choice list.

Priority of choices
  1. normal mode
  2. last good configuration
  3. safe mode
