Dell laptop does not start

my dell laptop does not turn on...the lights for the keyboard light up but thats about it.. warranty is over so i took it to someone and said that it might be a motherboard problem...after a couple of weeks i tried it again and it worked perfectly then the 2nd day same problem.. the power button lights up but the screen doesnt and the whole computer does not start.... any suggestions!!!

Did the laptop get a shock or fall down?

The better thing will be to send it to the manufacturer or the make for a check up or if yourself you may open an check if everything is well connected. If everything is well connected thus it may be a HDD or motherboard or switch problem.
