just wanted to say thanks! it worked fine with the cd but I had difficulties with the website using firefox. with internet exploiter it was ok...

thanks! martin

Hi

It seems more and more people are using firefox and are having problems with the site, I am now looking into what I need to do to make it firefox friendly.

In the mean time bear with me all you FF users and I will get to it.

thats really nice of you! all the ff users will appreciate that very much!
let me know if there is something I can test with my ff :)

thanks, Martin

It seems that none of the pictures show in FF on any of the pages and when you click a link on the pictures page the HTML link gets a bit confused and parts of the address get changed.

I did just try the Mozilla Forum but its not working, sigh, like I said bear with me.

The site is currently down for some other work I have to do as well, it may be about 24 hours before its back up.

I have posted a thread in TS about the issue so if any FF experts are around please answer the thread.

do you use different sources for different browsers? I just had a look and i see differences between the html sources in ie6 and ff. if I use the source from ie6 in ff everything works fine, the images and the download links as well.

OK I found the fault after a brief post in the mozilla forum and i'm glad to say. fingers crossed, that the site now works in FF without any issues.

But and its a big but ( i like big buts and I cannot lie),.i'm not saying something else may be found, if so, let me know by PM or mail.

Hi can someone email or PM the DST (Dell service tech) CD or ISO? The one from ihatedell.com keeps asking for a password when i try to extract the rar file and I'm not having any luck finding the password to the file.

Thanks

dst

please have a look here:

http://www.download.centre4service.com/software1.html

and download dstcd.iso, burn it to a cd and boot your machine with it.
you will be prompted for the servicetag change. you can also change the asset and owner tag information from the command line using asset.com....

ASSET new_asset_tag Specify new asset tag
ASSET /d Delete asset tag
ASSET /o new_owner_tag Specify new owner tag (if applicable)
ASSET /o /d Delete owner tag (if applicable)

hope this helps you

Has anyone tested this with Latitude D820?? I created the CD-boot disk and when trying to boot from it it stalls for a second while reading the disc and then boots into XP as usual. When I try it from the command prompt (ran from XP) an error is returned (\\\"OS is preventing this utility from operating properly (SMI not allowed).\\\" I downloaded the latest version of DST from the site mentioned in post# 135. Is it that D820 is not supported by the software or something else?? Anyone have a similar problem & solution?? Any other solutions for D820? All feedback is greatly appreciated in advance...

It seems you are using a refurbished Dell D820 for which Dell has removed the tattoo. Does the Service tag have a number ending in 95? plus a letter?

I was able to resovle the tag reset on the D820. Big up goes to Paragon33 for providing me with the software and instructions for this model. If you are having trouble with the boot, try taking out the hard drive so that a cd-rom boot is forced. Also make sure you properly burn the ISO boot disk, I didnt get it right the first time. Its really a pleasure to be part of a forum where you can receive such polite and quick responses from the staff and senior members.
