Dell XT2 Tablet/notebook - how to make screen auto-rotate?

I need to find a way to cause the display to rotate into portrait orientation automatically when the screen is flipped from notebook to tablet mode.

The trick is, I need to do this WITHOUT running Dell's "Control Point" utility.

The reason: DCP also spits out annoying popups saying that the battery is charging normally, however, you may need to replace it soon. "Soon" being the halfway point from "brand new" to "really need to replace it". In other words, there's still plenty of time.

Dell says the users can just ignore it until the message changes to "Your battery life is decreasing..." (at 50% life). Not helpful.

I found that DCP was responsible for generating the popups and shut it off. Unfortunately, it also stopped the auto-rotate feature.

SO, what I need to figure out is how to stop DCP from spitting out the popups. "It will be fixed in the next release." Says Dell.

OR I need to find some utility/setting/whatever that will turn the auto-rotate feature back on, without having to have DCP running all the time.

These are vista machines, BTW.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
