Desktop icons changed to unknown image

  1. Hello,

A few days ago, after starting up my laptop (Windows Vista), I realized some of my desktop icons did not show up as their intended images. But instead, was replaced by another icon.

[IMG] This is the icon that has replaced the desktop icons for Steam, Google Chrome, Ventrilo and HP Solution Center.

I have tried changing these desktop icons back to their usual icons, however, they still show up as the icon in the image above.

As far as I can tell, the programs work as normal; their icons have just been replaced.

The last thing I probably did before this occurred was install a Windows update and play Terraria for a few hours. I didn't visit any strange websites or download anything.

Can anyone explain to me why this has happened, and how I can fix it?

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for the help! Deleting the icon cache didn't work, however, changing the scale of the display and then restarting Windows did the trick.
