Desktop Icons

  1. Hi everyone. I am a computer teacher and my lab uses Windows XP. I noticed that on one of the computers someone (presumably a student) renamed icons to inappropriate things. I right clicked to see when it was modified, but it just says the same day that it was created. The same is true for any other icon I rename.

Is there a way to see a history of it so I can figure out when it was changed and therefore who the culprit is?

    Thanks so much!

Does right clicking on the icon, general tab, created, modified and accessed dates and time show??

It shows but it says Nov. 11, 2011 for both. Even I change the name right now, it will still say that date.

Sorry, did not read in full but normally what you did shows the three items?
Would doing a system restore to most recent point, if there is one, give you any clue as to when they were changed

Yes it shows the three items.

I don't think system restore changes files like that.

I don't have xp but believe it restores original icons and wondering if you
could establish a time frame from restore points if available.
