    IPV4= 169.254.50.171

    Dont see the gateways IP anywhere. In the one spot is says Default Gateway but there are no numbers next to it.

    well thats a problem seeing as ur default gateway is your router... what kind of router is it... belkin, linksys, d-link ect. even tho it sais local only its more like limited connectivity... ur not really even connected to the router... it just see's that somethings pluged in the pc... have you tried plugging the modem directly into the desktop... and seriously if u wanna call me we could cover all this in moments...

    i mean if its a linksys then by default the default gateway is 192.168.1.1 and you could attempt to ping 192.168.1.1 and see if you get a response from your router... other then that... i'm starting to suspect that either the driver is jumbled... the port is shot... or possibly an antivirus software you added or maybe its firewall is messing causing this issue... do you have multiple antivirus softwares on the computer? or have you recently... like in the last 24 hours added any antivirus or other softwares?

    Sorry for the long respone time man. The only software added was for my new Nvidia graphics card. All my anti virus stuff is expired. I did do a windows service pack 2 update last night but it was not working before that anyways.

    Yes I have trried modem direct to desktop and still no luck

    norton expired like a year ago

    alright well expired or not... what antivirus is on your computer...because being expired it could still cause this problem... is it norton?
  10. DevilsFallback Newcomer, in training Posts: 30

    being expired it should give you more reason to remove it...
  11. ljastangs21 Newcomer, in training Posts: 31

    yes it is norton should i unistall
  12. DevilsFallback Newcomer, in training Posts: 30

    yes but you will need to perform another step as well... all antivirus software needs a removal tool... i'm going to find you a link to get the removal tool... you uninstall norton go to control panel add remove programs and uninstall norton... i'm 75% sure we found the problem... i've seen this 3 times or so

    ok once norton uninstalls normally it will likely want to restart... after its restarted... i want you to put this on the computer and run it... i'll walk you threw it... but first you have to download it put it on a flash drive and put it on that machine heres the link
