Recently my parents computer, a dell 2350 has been acting up. When you turn the computer on it gives you the erro, "A Disk read error has ocured, press ctrl+alt+delete to restart the computer.

I have no idea how to fix it, the computer itself is 6-7 years old, while the HDD is about 5 years old.

Thanks in advanced for any help.

O, both of those threads are for different computers and different problems. But yeah I was guessing the HDD was faulty, just didn't want to have to spend money n my parents computer. But I guess I can find one for them somewhere.

Reset the BIOS... ie.. Load BIOS defaults. I've seen this happen with messed BIOS' on Dells. Also, replace the cable and check to make sure the PSU is dishing out proper voltage (make sure it's not clogged with dust, etc.)

when i built a new computer I took out the HDD and put iit into my new one. why did I do this? because i was broke. the dell just sat there for about a year until I ended up buying a HDD for it and putting it in the dell so my parents could use it.
