Distorted Sound/Fuzzy Sound

    I've just fired up Rome: Total War after running an AntiVirus scan (AVG), and started a new campaign. The start video is fine, but once the campaign map is up, the sound is all fuzzy and distorted. I restarted the PC, and watched a video clip oin My Documents, still fuzzy, but to a lesser extent. I also here the same fuzzyness when I move the mouse wheel, and sometimes sound refuses to play at all.

    what motherboard and soundcard are you using? have you got all the latest drivers for your system's components? does the problem occurr with headphones too?
