Does anyone think there will be a Crysis 2 DX11 patch?

I think you are about spot on Superty. I think the only reason they are putting one out (at some point) is the uproar over the ***** phone booth shooter with 2008 graphics. I really think they thought that they were going to ride the rep of Crysis.

I played Crysis 2 demo and it looked and played really well on max settings. Problem was, it wasn't ground breaking like Crysis 1 was and still is. Hopefully they will get back to their roots and make Crysis 3 the epic tech demo Crysis 1 was. If they keep up the cross platform trend, Crysis 1 is probably the last we will see of ground breaking games.

Wow, they released 3 of them. But they didn't have the courtesy to put them in an update. At least they're free.

    No

    I highly doubt it.

You realize of course that you said that a day after the DX11 patch actually came out....right?

Yeah, I know, I just downloaded it today.

He was probably only posting to build his post count so he could post a link in another thread.

Yes, it's true. But, I didn't want to do it though.
However, I really didn't think they would, except I posted it before I saw it was released yesterday.

Strange, I installed only the 1.9 patch (not the hires texture pack or tesselation pack)
Memory usage of the game doubled and made it pretty much unplayable :(

Memory usage went from ca 500MB to 900MB
My card only has 512MB :(

Tried rebooting and both XP x64 and Win7 x64, same issue in both operating systems, it was fine in patch 1.8...

    Lower the graphic setting?

Sorry I should have mentioned, I had the "Very High" spec before the patch (This was the middle setting)

After the patch even if I lower the settings to the lowest available the game still uses 900MB memory :(

You have 8GB's ...whats the problem?? :p:wave:

I think he's talking about his GPU
  14. red1776 Omnipotent Ruler of the Universe

    no he's not...
how would he know how much vid ram is being used? he is talking about system memory.
  15. Per Hansson TechSpot Server Guru

I am talking about my GPU, I use Rivatuner to monitor it...

get a better graphics card? My GTX 460 1GB runs everything maxed with a 40FPs average. I do have mine heavily overclocked though... regardless, you have 8gb of ram, maybe you should upgrade your graphics card?

I might upgrade my graphics card, tho first I'd like to rule out any other possible bugs. (Especially since the game ran great with the previous patches on my hardware)

I just found a workaround, when I launch Crysis 2 with the v1.9 patch these are the stats reported by Rivatuner v2.24c:

    Videomemory usage: 995MB
    Local videomemory usage: 492MB
    Non-local videomemory Usage: 503MB

At this point FPS is in the 10's > 20's and the game runs like a dog...
If I ALT+TAB out to Windows and then right back in the values changes like this:

    Videomemory usage: 495MB
    Local videomemory usage: 460MB
    Non-local videomemory Usage: 35MB

The game now runs great with about double the FPS...
I even get it to eat about 2500MB Non-local videomemory Usage sometimes, FPS is even worse then...
The game also managed to hardlock my PC once when testing, and corrupting the savegame files, luckily I had them backed up so I could just restore them...

    I actually had Rivatuner running when I patched the game from v1.2 > 1.8 > 1.9
You can see that in the attached PNG
So the peaks go from left to right, v1.2 > v1.8 > v1.9 (This is where the marker is located, then two more peaks follow where I restart the game twice trying different graphical settings, I had not realized the ALT+TAB trick at this stage...)
