Drag and Drop problems

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition SP2 fully updated.

All of a sudden I'm no longer able to drag and drop files through buttons on the toolbar. Normally I drag a file to a folder button on the toolbar, the folder maximizes and I drop the file in. Now, the folder button depresses, but doesn't maximize. It used to work fine, but has just stopped. Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks!

I think you may have the W32.Blaster.Virus that is also associated with moving web content on desktop/folders.

    Look at this for details

p.s Can you still copy and paste files?

Yes, I can still copy and paste.

I tried the Blaster removal program, and it says that Blaster wasn't on my system.

I googled {"drag and drop" +XP} and found plenty of fellow sufferers. You can try that if this suggestion doesn't work:-

Shutdown - remove mouse - reboot - plug in mouse and let Windows detect it.
It seems to have worked for some.
