What make and model of the laptop?
What happen prior to this which may have cause this issue?
Yes you can re-flash the BIOS go the OEM (orignal equipment manufacturer) web site and get it for your model or produce ID number.

Is this what you got ? How old is that laptop? The Drive sounds like it Dead when there dead they don't showup in the BIOS. You can try to replace lots of rebuilt parts on ebay. Just make sure from the seller that the item can be returned if found to be faulty or DOA (dead on arrival).
