DVD drive problem

    my friend laptop dvd is not detected in bios and my usb stick is the same was wondering if i have to redo the bios

    What happen prior to this which may have cause this issue?
    Yes you can re-flash the BIOS go the OEM (orignal equipment manufacturer) web site and get it for your model or produce ID number.

    it is n acer extena 4120 bios v1.18

    i tryed reflashing the bios and it say's that the current bios is newer then your binary file.system does not permit to flash old bios

    it is not reading in bios and in windows it is reading as a removable drive

    Is this what you got ? How old is that laptop? The Drive sounds like it Dead when there dead they don't showup in the BIOS. You can try to replace lots of rebuilt parts on ebay. Just make sure from the seller that the item can be returned if found to be faulty or DOA (dead on arrival).
