    Hey everyone,

this afternoon, my dvd drive suddenly stopped reading cd's. It started when I was using nero burning rom. The burn process halted at 5%, gave an error. I retried, it prompted me to insert a blank cd, I did, and nothing. I thought it was nero, but now it doesn't seem to be able to read any cd(empty or full) that I insert. I just copied stuff from normal cd's this afternoon, so it used to work. I have no idea where the problem can be. I tried rebooting, a system restore point(who knows what happened, always worth a try) and for the rest, I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like your DVD drive is dead. I'd suggest getting a new one. It has 2 lasers, one to read CD and one to read DVD. The CD laser has gone out.

Pick up a DVD burner, as they are ridiculously cheap these days.
