Hi, I have taken a DVD R/RW drive from one computer and hooked it up to another. It worked before I moved it but now my computer doesn't recognize it. On the same cable is a secondary hard drive. When the old CD R/RW drive is connected my computer recognizes the CD drive and hard drive. With the DVD drive hooked uo the dvd drive and hard drive don't show up.

could you tell me what this does? and maybe why the dvd drive and hard drive on that cable don't show up? I like to understand whaty I'm doing to my computer
Yes it removes the Upper and Lower filter drivers as registered in your registry These registry entries are easily corrupted, and thankfully just restarting they are automatically created again (but this time working ) You can do this on any computer, even if working ok. ie It will not harm it
If you're speaking of internal CD\DVD Drives, then yes But if you're talking about USB connected drives then run this: http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread.php?p=727106#post727106
it is interally connected via the via the wide gray cables. I ran the program and had no luck. problem solved. I changed the slave/master configuration on the back of the drive based on the working drive.
