POWERSCAN 1.1 Removal
=====================
Begin by backing up your registry and your system, and/or setting a Restore Point,
to prevent trouble if you make a mistake.

KILL these running processes with Task Manager:
cleanup.exe
ignorelist.exe
patchnow.exe
productsupport.exe
programfilesdir+\power scan\powerscan.exe
sysrestore.exe

REMOVE these registry items (if present) with RegEdit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\powerscan
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\powerscan\{4e7bd74f-2b8d-469e-dbfc-ed1ca787ad2d}
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\powerscan\account_id
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\power scan
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\powerscan
Now reboot the machine immediately.

REMOVE these files (if present) with Windows Explorer:
cleanup.exe
ignorelist.exe
patchnow.exe
pc powerscan - live update.lnk
pc powerscan.lnk
power scan.lnk
productsupport.exe
programfilesdir+\power scan\powerscan.exe
sysrestore.exe

REMOVE this directory (if present) with Windows Explorer:
programfilesdir+\power scan

After that I think it may be time to go to this post here, and follow the instructions EXACTLY.

Then see How to post your Hijackthis log-files.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\powerscan
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\powerscan\{4e7bd74f-2b8d-469e-dbfc-ed1ca787ad2d}
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\powerscan\account_id
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\curr entversion\run\power scan
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\powerscan

i had CWS but is e2give with CWS?

Don't be so quick to fix a problem with a reformat, unless that is ultimetly what you want to do. There is often a solution to fix your current problem without having to start over and possibly lose your data. But if you're happy with it then no worries.
