ECS Motherboard P4 problem

CPU/mainboard combos from Fry's

I have a very similar problem - bought a CPU/mainboard combo from Fry's and it works fine but restarts PC when gaming. It did a minidump, but I can't read it.

The common denominator here seems to be FRY'S and ECS mainboards. I think we can assume that the P4 3.X processors aren't all bad. I paid only $159.99 for the combo - CPU is probably worth that alone (hope it's good).

I guess I'll buy a good mainboard and see if that fixes it. I'll avoid these combos in the future.

i can tell you its not the combos from frys its just the ecs boards. your best bet is to get a combo, sell the board, and get a new one. the processor alone is worth more than the whole combo, and you can make some money back from the board and let someone else deal with its problems.
