In a nutshell: Now that Elon Musk has finally taken control of Twitter, the world's richest man is implementing some big changes. Top executives, including its CEO, were quickly removed, and now it looks like Musk is considering more alterations: bringing back Vine and introducing paid verification.

Musk charged into Twitter HQ late last week with a sink under his arm and his sights set on removing execs, including CEO Parag Agrawal. He's now looking at changes to the service, starting with the verification process.

"The whole verification process is being revamped right now," Musk tweeted yesterday. According to The Verge and Platformer, this will involve making Twitter Blue—the optional $4.99 per month subscription that gives users extra features—more expensive, but it will also verify subs.

The new Twitter Blue price is said to be $19.99 per month. The current plan would see those who are already verified given 90 days to subscribe, or they will lose their blue checkmark. Musk is reportedly giving employees working on the project until November 7 to launch it. If this deadline isn't met, they will be fired.

Musk could also be bringing back a long-gone Twitter feature: Vine. Twitter bought the short-form video hosting service for $30 million back in 2012 ahead of its official release a year later. In a time before social media apps introduced the same format, Vine made stars of the those whose clips went viral. But with Instagram, Facebook, and others embracing short-form videos and Vine content creators fighting for better compensation, Twitter decided to discontinue Vine in 2016, a year before the international launch of TikTok.

Almost 2 million people have voted yes in Musk's poll asking if Vine should be brought back. YouTube star MrBeast joined the conversation, noting that it would be "hilarious" to see new Vine competing with TikTok and that original, hard-to-copy content would help it achieve that goal.

Elsewhere, Musk is said to be cutting Twitter's headcount this week. The new boss previously told staff that he wouldn't slash employee numbers by a reported 75%, but a significant number of layoffs are coming.

Won't be paying for anything Musk has to offer ..... not willing to support anyone dumb enough to pay $44 billion bucks for a worthless social media platform ....

It's like he was walking inside a shopping center with $100 billion in his wallet, and then all of a sudden, his eyes got fixated on a toy called Twitter. And without thinking he pulls out 44 bills, then goes back home with his shiny gadget.

Imagine what he could do with $44 billion. he could double the output of his factories; maybe more.

Just look at the comments from the same members posting in theses threads. The left is doing what they do, scream outrage, injustice and try cancel culture...all over FREE SPEECH lol, oh the irony.

honestly, everybody is screaming; left, right, or whatever. When a conservative POTUS sits in the White House, half of America screams and moans till a democrat takes the oval office. Then, the other half takes over the screaming and the former screamers take a break.

The problem is when the 100% (or the 99%) scream at the same time; you better plug your ears because there is no way to know what one half is saying to the other half. That's what's happening in America today; a screaming nation.

Maybe Musk's BS will backfire on him. There's lots of jobs out there that these people could find on their own - if they want to.

I think it would be hilarious if they all quit. No one likes working for a slave master.
Oh yes they do. Esp when the master pays

Actually Musk is more intermediate so he tends to piss off both sides frequently. Its just that the left goes bat crap crazy when they don't get their way. 😉
Given these rumors of massive price hikes, I'd say Musk is back to doing what he does best, taking money out of other people's pockets, and putting it in his.

I mean, he (ostensibly), got screwed on a deal that he couldn't back out of, so why shouldn't users be made to pay for it?

Could have hired a Pakistani programmer at Rent-A-Coder to write him a new social media web site for $44 (NOT followed by 9 zeroes).

Actually, the correct political term for that is, "centrist". However, given all that I've seen of the Musk circus over ther years, he's just drumming up as much attention for himself as possible. IMO, what he's really trying is to turn Twitter into a sort of verbal "blood sport", strictly for his own amusement.

Take Trump for example, (you know that piece of sh!t, who "lives in my mind" as you claim), He created, "the big lie", that the election was stolen, took over 60 court cases to trial, lost all of them, couldn't prove a single allegation, yet you apparently think he should be back up and running his lying yap on Twitter? Seriously?
