Elon Musk is named Time's person of the year, but not everyone is pleased

As if legacy media still matters. Time is a rag at this point so I couldn't care less who their person of the year is. The fact that people are upset also means nothing because we live in an age were it's en vogue to always be pissed about something and at someone. Hate is the new love, apparently.

Funny! I thought it was cool to like Musk and thus what the sheep do. 🤣
I’m not going to bite and jump to his defence, I don’t “like“ Musk, I absolutely dont know him, you have to be a really special kind of stupid to judge him on his tweets and media appearances. But I do ”like” the work he has done, who wouldn’t?

Just out of curiosity, what exactly makes Musk a bad human being?

I’m always surprised to see everyone having such an emotional response to everything in life. Read it, move on.
Most of the outrage over this in comments sections isn’t genuine. People just want to be seen to hate Musk. It’s like a “virtue signal” or whatever. Nobody here actually knows Elon Musk and nobody has a good reason to hate him.

You already bit.

How about the time he got frazzled at the diver trying to rescue the kids from the cave and accused him, without evidence, of being a pedophile?

IMO, that, alone, is enough evidence in my view of him being a bad person. Or how about simply wanting to run away from Earth and go live on Mars just because he thinks the world is doomed? IMO, he will not escape the problems. He will bring them there. How about him wanting to stay around and be part of the solution rather than running away from it? You think he's solving things? He could care less. Even people close to him say so.

From the article that I linked:
“He is a savant when it comes to business, but his gift is not empathy with people,” his brother and business partner Kimbal Musk told Time.

You cannot speak for anyone else, so your comment is not genuine.

I don't know if I'd call him "Person of the Year" but I haven't read Time Magazine since I was a child so I really don't care. He's nothing more than a product of a broken economic system.

The number of billionaires in existence is inversely proportional to the overall health of any economy. Elon Musk knows this very well and his resistance to paying taxes when he has more money than he even knows what to do with shows that he's a villain. Maybe Time chose him to be villain of the year like they did with Hitler and Stalin instead of as hero of the year like they did with Greta Thunberg.

What a stupid article. Every person of the year chosen has been controversial. Last yeah Biden was chosen and that was controversial because the health workers werent chosen among other reasons.

Here it is, right from the horse's mouth:
Warren Buffet still claims his tax rate is lower than his secretary's https://money.cnn.com/2013/03/04/news/economy/buffett-secretary-taxes/index.html

As far crafty Elon's last stunt goes, (and I missed this on my last rant against the turd)

After Musk sucked the last tax breaks he could possibly milk out of the US government, for developing electric vehicles, he ran off to China, and had one of his "Mega-Factories" built there.

So what does the world's richest parasite build there? Why Tesla's of course.

Now Elon is taking jabs at the Bern? Same side man... same side. Leave the old Vermonter alone. He's from my home state and he definitely means well. I think it might be time for everyone to stop following Elon for a while.

Ding ding ding! We have a winnah!

Time's choices are irrelevant as always, but hating Musk/anyone else is yet more virtue signalling by people who don't have more impactful ways to express their opinions.

The exact same paradigm is displayed by those supporting him.

In simpler terms, "the pot always calls the kettle black".

You have to admit, it's just the north and south poles of the same "virtuous" magnet.

Also, IMO, he is no "green" person. Anyone who wants to run off to Mars because the Earth is doomed is just a chicken sh!t - and will likely take all the problems of humanity with them.
I would make an argument that trusting a private enterprise to such an important milestone like a mission to Mars or worst even, colonizing, is basically dooming the project from the get go: people like Musk are delusional about both their skills and things like establishing a free market economy model or something that's based on individualism and competition to survive an extreme situation where a single mistake means the entire colony is wiped out in days, maybe even hours.

Most entrepreneurs are utterly blind and in extremely deep denial about their own circumstances (In this case: believing you deserve all that money and came from nothing when in reality his family were literal emerald mine owners, born into all of the advantages of Apartheid) and how much the society around them contributes to enabling their personal ventures to thrive so once there's nobody to tell Elon "Dude you can't do that, we're all going to die here if you do**" and he tries to do what every billionaire executive is used to and just overwrite them and shut down any dissenting voices well guess what? The entire colony is dead.

**Not that many people he has to listen to tell him that today but once he's in orbit he actually would be afforded absolute power over all aspects with not even the little checks and balances that remain for a billionaire like him today.

It is about time Musk was put forward as person of the year, considering he is by any measurable metric the most broadly capable and efficiently productive human currently alive. The fact that the comment sections from dozens of different publications are rife with folks taking poorly jabs at his character while never daring to begin refuting his accomplishments highlights the epidemic of narcissism in western society. It would be amusing if it weren't so damn sad.

So, Musk is, " the most broadly capable and efficiently productive human currently alive"? And western society is nothing if not a non productive collection of narcissists?

I would tell you that you're delusional, but you'd never accept that, and my post would likely get pulled.

I will tell you that Ford has over 200.000 pending orders for their electric F-150. In fact they had so many, they had to stop accepting them.

And like Satchel Paige said, "don't look back, 'cause there's always someone gaining on you".

What has this all knowing, all achieving, omnipotent scion done for the health industry lately.......? (Hint: not a damned thing).

He has marketed $50.00 whistles that, (ostensibly), look like the truck he may get to market next year,(which most people think is an abomination)..

He sold a sh!tload flamethrowers in fire ridden California.

And oh yes, he started PayPal, the sole purpose of which was to skim money off people's transactions who didn't have credit cards. So maybe we should say that Musk is the "consummate leech" alive on earth today. Whaddya think?

Yeah, I'm not really impressed at all to be honest. He had to rely on tax payer dollars to get where he is at. So meh.
That, is truth. SpaceX, and Blue Origin, for that matter, have ROYALTY FREE, access to all of NASA's patents. Try starting a small business and getting ROYALTY FREE access to any NASA patent. You'd be hard pressed to do so.

But not only that, much of SpaceX funding comes from NASA and thus from taxpayer dollars.

Spot on, I agree.

As I recall the announcement that Musky made with respect to wanting people to sign up for his "Mars Mission" he outright stated that they should likely be prepared to die" https://qrius.com/elon-musk-mission-mars/ Yet the sheep still cried "Baa" and signed up. At least he, supposedly, has a clue about that, however, I am inclined to doubt it - I would not be surprised if he included this warning solely as a legal device to prevent him from being sued. He may well go down in history along side people like Jim Jones and others like him.

IMO, he's the pied piper of the modern age with, instead, humans in tow.

Very much, I was, thinking the same thing myself. All those claiming "virtue signaling" seem to be experiencing psychological projection. To each their own. IMO, and I'll only speak for myself, I'm stating my opinion, and we all know what Dirty Harry said about opinions, don't we?? In case people don't remember, "Opinions are like a$$ holes. Everyone's got one."

I agree, but with 66 Million Twits following, that might be a stretch. I bet they would all be Jonesing for their latest Musky peep. 🤣
