Elon Musk sides with Edward Snowden, has seen no evidence of advanced civilizations visiting...

Editor's take: Some conspiracy theorists believe we are on the brink of a major disclosure event – that is, admission by the US government or perhaps others that we are not alone in the universe. Others, like SpaceX founder Elon Musk, aren’t yet convinced based on the limited evidence on the table thus far.

In a recent exchange on Twitter, Musk said he has seen no evidence of an advanced civilization visiting Earth, adding that “fuzzy pictures that are worse than a 7/11 security cam frame grab don’t count.”

Musk brings up a valid point. Much of the world’s population now carry smartphones equipped with cameras, so shouldn’t there be an uptick in sighting videos? Then again, if a civilization has invented a craft that can fly here from another planet, they've probably figured out how to make it stealth, too.

Earlier this year, the Department of Defense publicly released video footage captured years ago by the Navy of “aerial phenomenon” which remains “unidentified.” In any other year, such a release might have been huge news, but with Covid-19 and everything else going on, it was more or less glossed over.

Renowned government whistleblower Edward Snowden told Joe Rogan in a podcast late last year that, even with his ridiculous access to restricted networks belonging to the CIA, the NSA and the military, he was unable to find any evidence pointing to aliens.

Just because there is no evidence doesn’t mean these people don’t suspect something is going on. Snowden in his admission said “there probably are [aliens].” Musk has even suggested the possibility of an arguably more bizarre reality – that we exist simply as a simulation being conducted by an advanced civilization.

“The odds that we are in base reality is one in billions,” Musk told tech journalist Joshua Topolsky.

Astronomers have also studied millions of stars for signs of alien life and have come up empty. SETI@home, a project that used distributed computing to help analyze data from radio telescopes, was shut down earlier this year after having been in operation since 1999.

Perhaps the most compelling account in support of alien life comes from Bob Lazar, a scientist that claims to have worked on reverse engineering the propulsion system from an alien spacecraft (one of nine) at a top secret base near Area 51 called S4. Lazar first came forward with his claims back in 1989 but resurfaced last year in an appearance on Rogan’s podcast.

Didn't rocket scientists say that it's just a thermal blanket from a rocket? But nobody listened. Since Doomsday Scenarios Sell™

Occam's Raz0r:

What is more likely, that we think that we exist but we don't and we are merely puppets "in a simulator ran by another adv Civ" or that we simply exist in "base reality"?

Disappointing take by Elon.

There remains far too many unexplained events to simply write it off. When the US Navy released gun sight camera footage of that "unknown aerial phenomenon" it challenged the nay say'ers to come up with a reasonable explanation. Backed up by so many hours of blacked out film from NASA without plausible explanation ... it all points toward something that needs to be discussed and explained to the American People. We are in an age now where people no longer go crazy whenever they see or hear about something different and we have been conditioned long enough by so many alien movies that the truth won't have nearly the effect that it might have had 75 years ago .....

Most people have a vague idea about the immensity of space, time frames and the limitations even of light travel or other theorized ways of travel. No matter how advanced a civilization is, there are so many variables, it`s extremely improbable that they can physically reach us, but it`s easier for our pattern recognition build brain to fill the gaps of everything we cannot yet explain or understand. Yes, pattern recognition can work against you, when you lack data it autocompletes on false premises.

These "alien visitation stories" are if nothing else valuable as loon alerts, enabling us to spot the more logic-challenged among us. I seem to recall that the Seattle Windshield Epidemic was chalked up by some as the work of aliens, though the Wiki article fails to mention it:

The Seattle Windshield Pitting Epidemic.

IMO, it is typical of Musky.

Says that scientist in you. However, science is based on having the best answers for the current state of science.

Yes. There are a number of reports out there, from programs like Project Blue Book, that are still considered credible unknowns. It does not mean they are alien craft, rather they are still unidentified after how many years now?

Yes, agreed. Based on Humanity's current understanding of the laws of physics; however, if they are out there and they do have the capability of reaching us, then perhaps they have a different understanding of the laws of physics.

UFO's were just a made up thing to hide the US military advanced testing of prototype aircraft during the cold war. The earth is grain of sand in an endless ocean, the chances of life finding earth is slim and vice versa.

Surely you're all aware, that all the maternal DNA of Homo sapiens, traces back to a hybrid being, "Hera Agathon", whose mother was a "Cylon model 8"..

With that being said, I agree that we more than likely haven't been revisited, by pure Cylon beings, or any other form of advanced life.

Since it is impossible for a fusion reaction to proceed past iron (Fe), it should be readily be obvious, that our factual "mama", was a supernova, and we are in fact nothing more than, "a Rolling Stone", that happened to fall in the right place.

However one look a Kieth Richards:

Along with his uncanny ability to intranasally injest chemical compounds which would kill a normal healthy human being, at a much earlier point in life, might be construed by some as a result of extraterrestrial origins

I was thinking about this this morning in fact.

#1. If aliens existed and had sent spacecraft to earth then why is it that they are so small instead of being larger in order to carry life support equipment or advanced sensor technology?

If aliens come to earth I believe it will be more like the movie Independence Day 4 where the alien spaceships are so large that it’s difficult for them to go unnoticed.

#2. What advantage is there for an alien spacecraft or probe or drone to be flying over the ocean while being chased by an F 18 photographing it?

Why is it above the water? Is it looking for a sea life? It doesn’t make any sense.

#3. Bigfoot/Loch Ness monster/UFO sightings have been extremely low by the public despite the fact that unlike decades ago, everyone is basically walking around with a high definition video cam in their pocket. Police brutality cases are up 5000% but UFO cases are down to virtually nothing.

4. A recent UFO sighting turned out to be a Goodyear blimp flying slowly over the city while being illuminated.

5. If UFOs existed they would represent the single most greatest threat to national security in the history of man. Instead of pointing our missiles “up“ we are pointing our missiles sideways at other countries. If the government doesn’t take this threat that seriously then why would I believe that it’s real?

I would like to think that UFOs would be more like the movie “flight of the navigator” then this nonsense that we are seeing on Fox news.

I can sleep soundly tonight knowing that our Supreme Alien Experts, Musk and Snowden, had final and definitive answers to the UFO questions.

If they haven't seen it, then it doesn't exist!!

Which holds true for me in regard to several of Musk's promised car model offerings.

Both of them apparently have an overwhelming, emotional need, to stay, "relevant", in the daily news cycle (**), and hence adopted a time worn, thread bare, topic, which has been kicked around by everyone from scholars to garbage men, for several, (if not more), decades to go on about. Yeah we here ya, now get lost.

(**) Perhaps this is a genetic predisposition, like the almost insatiable reproductive drive occurring in rabbits and rodents.

Humans can't explain it. Yet.

Pre 1950: Goddidit
Post 1950: Aliens

A little knowledge has always been dangerous. Science prevailing in everyday life was always going to provoke the nuttier sections of society to come up with new theories. Keen to fill in knowledge gaps previously occupied by the last thing they feared to exist.....

If you could go 99% the speed of light, to go across the milky way alone would take 14,000 years and due to the time dilation 100,000 years would pass by on earth. for aliens to not only find us and reach us at this heartbeat in time, the chances are astronomical.

I believe advanced civilizations would have an interest in any planet with life in the universe including ours, but it would also be sloppy of them to allow themselves to seen if that is not their intentions.

Reading the New York Times, there's not much evidence for advanced civilizations *living* on earth.

Then you should try reading "the National Enquirer", not only will you find evidence or extraterrestrial visitation, but many many, human interest stories, that will warm your oh so very obviously, cold, jaded, heart.

We could not even find wreckage of doomed malaysian flight MH-370.

maybe it is time for G7 members to fund/contribute to scientific deep sea explorations. maybe we will find atlantis, other lost civilizations, etc.

Why an advanced alien civilization would have any interest upon visiting earth with our silly antics is beyond me.

I don't have the attribution for this quote, but it goes something like this; "if an advanced alien culture visits saying, 'they only want to serve us'. we should ask if that's baked or fried"
