EMachine E3408 Running really slow

Hi all, I know this is an old machine and the memory is liited to 2 meg , but its gone REALLY slow these last few weeks despite me , cleaning off old files, programmes, and defraging the hard drive ... any suggestons what I can do to resolve the problem ? Is there no way the ram can be increased ? says 2 meg is the highest

Its running windows 7 by the way 32 bit

If it were mine, I would give it a thorough, gentle cleaning, replacing thermal paste under the heatsink. (look up videos on this on YouTube - locating a manual for the motherboard might make a huge difference so check support at the motherboard maker's site)

Then I would download and create bootable installation media for Chromium OS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium_OS) and I would reformat the HDD and turn it into a type of 'chromebook' machine.

With success in all that work, you might have an internet appliance type machine for a couple of years more.
