I used a jumper lead to connect the green and black wires together when it was plugged into the cmputer, and then everything comes on- fans, hard-drive..etc..., but when I plug in the moniter, it says "no signal". Also, the orange data LED is always on. It seems like nothing is loading..... What should I do?!

Sounds like you might have the hard drive cable plugged in backwards on the hard drive end.

If that is not the case, try swapping your sticks of RAM or removing one or a combination of this.

What has led you to this point, what are you or were you trying to do??

Just reread the first page of this thread, OOPS. Sorry.

Emachines use standard atx so you are good there.

Still no boot is bad. Remove all cards and try again. Removing and/or reseating RAM is still an option to rule that out.

Sounds like something is shorting the computer out, those are always fun to figure out. The card removing and RAM reseating is a way to rule some things out. If a card feels loose when you pull it out, that could be a culprit as well. Thermal creep they call it.

Take a look at this thread:

    http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic32434.html

Seems to be a common occurance with E-Machines, the power supply's go bad and fry the motherboards. When the motherboards (all 3) where bad with me I could turn it on but nothing happened except the cpu fan turned on. Whatever you do, do not use that Power supply you took out of it again, it will most likely fry any motherbaord it touches. There are other threads as well about this problem, like I said seems to be a common occurance.
