Can anyone help..I have a Sony Vaio VGC-RB50 which has crashed a couple of times previously. It was taking forever to boot and then one day I get the error message after the Vaio emblem. Reboot and Select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device. I cant boot up in safe mode or get past this point. Is there any way to bypass this error message? I dont have a boot disk for this computer,. Is there anyway to make a boot disk for XP or is the computer history?? BTW this has been the most unreliable computer I have ever owned!!!

I found some Recovery discs here: http://www.sonyrecovery.com/

But the HardDrive in your computer must be recognized first
To confirm this you could do two things:

1. Remove the HardDrive and reseat it (simple but can fix the issue)
2. Go to CMOS Setup and confirm the HardDrive is being picked up by the computer

To get into CMOS
At the SONY screen, press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup Utility
Once in the BIOS Setup, confirm that the Drive is been shown (each CMOS configuration is different to the next, so I do not know where it is shown. But usually it's on the General or Main screen)
