Error with external HD

L:\is not accessible
The parameter is incorrect.

this error appear when i open my external HD :(
i try to another computer, can open but i need to format it.
but..it full with important document..anyone know how to save the file without format it? T.T

OK. So now you get this error consistently?

If yes to above questions, my best guess: There's filesystem corruption on your external Hard drive. So windows no longer recognizes a valid filesystem and now thinks it's unformatted. (One common way this happens is by failing to use the Safely Remove Hardware icon to assure that Windows stops the USB drive BEFORE you unplug it from the USB port)

In any case, there's a freeware partition/data recovery tool TestDisk that looks for and repairs corrupt filesystems. Never used it myself but i've referred many to use it and many have posted good results. Hope it works for you too :)
