EU to impose 14% tax on PC monitors

    The European Union is set to reclassify monitors which have DVI outputs as TVs, meaning that manufacturers will have to pay 14% tariffs on these so-called "video monitors".

    Monitors that are classified as computer monitors don't attract the tariff. But the new guidance means that monitors which have expansion slots, ports, or internal space for adding video or DVI monitors will attract the tariff.

    America tarrifs a whole lot of different products that make 14% on monitors look silly, so I wouldn't say that....

    I imagine we might even see some of the cost passed on to the U.S. since world affairs like this one tend to trickle our way.
