Everything opens as Word

I have just installed 0ffice 2007 on my machine running XP (with service pack 3) When the machine now boots, it attempts to open all the start up programs in WORD. So things like Mailwasher, Nortons INS 2008, just do not load in the task tray. When you do get to the desk top, no matter what program you click WORD opens. I have manually set the "start in" option for each application, and when you click any of the icons, it opens WORD.

Don't know much about much, but noticed you hadn't had a reply, so i thought id'e throw in an idea. Sounds like your instalation of office has comandered the "start with preferances." Check those.

Thanks for your input. I ended up doing a system restore. This caused other problems which were a lot easier to resolve as you could now get at everything and not have word open.
