Exploring CD Freezes

When I insert a cd and go into explorer to open files on my cd Drive and I select a folder or a text file it Freezes. This has happened to a few cd's lattely and there are no errors with the cd's as they work fine on my other pc.

Does anyone know how I can fix this.

Sounds like driver issue. Have you tried reinstalling drivers for your cd drive?

I'm fairly certain it doesn't have anything to do with CD drivers or anything like that.

NT access scanner is part of McAfee virus scan.

The only time I've seen this happen is if two virus scanners are installed at the same time (one of which being McAfee). But I've never seen this behavior related to CD-ROM access.

What I might do is uninstall McAfee (the problem will defintely go away). Then reinstall it and see if that fixes your issue. You also better off getting a better (and free) virus scanner. www.grisoft.com

McAfee, while perhaps a slightly better detection rate than Norton, is poorly accurate virus software.

Thanks for the info i decided to reformatt and i installed Kaspersky 5 AV seems to be going ok now.
