External drives into RAID

  1. Ok, this may be a stupid question, but I'll never know until I ask ;)...

I have two identical external hard drives. They are both MicroNet PlatinumXL's, which are 500GB Firewire 800 drives. They have 2 Firewire 800 ports and one 6 pin Firewiree 400 port.

I wanted to set them up as a RAID 1, would that be possible? If its not, is there any other way to mirror the drives? If not, does anyone want to buy one hehe?

Yes you just need an external raid controller
Or a PCI card allowing external raid
Not sure which card or device is best, they seem to range in price significantly

Thanks! How would that work though? I'm not sure how I would connect the drives to the controller, or is the one you linked just an example?
