External hard disk problem

    i have a 320 gb western digital external hard disk...it worked properly for 1 year..but now when i connect it to the computer i cannot find it in 'my computer'..but it is being displayed in the task bar for removing the hard ware safely. when i connect it i can hear the spinning sound like everytime ...plzzz anyone help mee...

    Try this see How to Cleanup and Remove old USB Storage Drivers.

    Also does the drive have its own AC power? if yes also try
    > Power down machine. unplug usb cable. Turn off external drive

    Turn on computer. Replug USB cable and then turn drive power back on
