    Hi guys,

I purchased a MyBook Pro Edition (250GB) a while back and its been working well. However this weekend, its started clicking when I boot my laptop.

It runs fine once the laptop has booted, but Im concerned that sometime soon it will be worse than clicking and then I'll lose all my mp3s, pictures and videos etc.

Any advice? I've read of similar problems on here, but with error messages and and recognition problems. But never when its still working ok.

    Thanks in advance

    Greg

HDD Clicking is never a good sign.

You may want to run Western Digital's diagnostic software, it can be found here:

Of course, if you have any questions running it, or interpreting its results, just let us all know here.

EDIT: Before doing anything though, I highly recommend backing up your important files.

Its dead dude. Get anything you want off of it immediately.

Sometimes clicking hard drives will carry on and still work for months, but they are just as likely to never work again after the next click. Back up anything important while you still can, then check and see if you still have any warranty coverage.

clicking drives are a hallmark sign of a failing drive. move files offline now. replace the drive.
